Swimming pool contaminated with hotpot base in Chengdu
A swimming pool in Chengdu, Sichuan province, was contaminated with hotpot base, and the eight suspects involved have been placed under criminal compulsory measures by the police, according to local authorities.
The Qingyang branch of the Chengdu Public Security Bureau in Chengdu said in a notice on Tuesday that it received a report from a person surnamed Zhang at 7 am on Monday, whose swimming pool had been vandalized.
Police officers went to the scene to conduct an investigation. The result showed that due to a rental dispute over the swimming pool premises, Liu, the property owner, asked seven individuals, including Yang and Li, to dump liquid substances such as hotpot base and soy sauce into the swimming pool run by the tenant Zhang at around 1 am on Monday, causing water contamination. They then fled the scene.
The police collected water samples and sent them to professional institutions for testing. No toxic or harmful substances were detected in the water, according to the notice.
At present, eight suspects, including Liu, have been placed under criminal compulsory measures on suspicion of picking quarrels and provoking trouble. The case is under further investigation.
