The navigator meeting of the high-level security conference Beijing Xiangshan Forum opened in Beijing on Friday.

Co-hosted by the China Association for Military Science and the China Institute for International Strategic Studies, the meeting is attended by more than 120 representatives, experts and scholars from over 40 countries and international organizations, according to a news release by the organizers.

With the theme "Global Security Governance: Challenges and Approaches", the session will focus on international and regional hotspot issues and contribute ideas toward building a fairer and more reasonable global governance system, according to the release.

Participants will engage in roundtable discussions focused on four critical topics: international order and the rule of law, new security challenges in the Asia-Pacific, responsibilities for safeguarding common international security, and risk management in the military application of emerging technologies.

The meeting will also feature defense officials from Brazil, France, Russia, Malaysia, South Africa and Singapore, as well as prominent scholars from leading institutions in China, the United States and Europe, who are slated to speak at the event and exchange views.

The meeting will lay the groundwork for the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which is scheduled to be held this autumn, the organizers added.
