Wang Ziying, the first Chinese athlete to win a Grand Slam wheelchair tennis singles title, told China Daily she prefers being called a "world champion" rather than a "disabled world champion". She explained that the term "disabled" often evokes pity, but what she and other disabled athletes truly desire is recognition for their perseverance and achievements on the court — not to be labeled as "disabled" first.
