China-Laos mega power project put into operation

Jointly invested by China Southern Power Grid and Electricite du Laos Transmission Company, the project connects Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture in Yunnan province with Oudomxay and Luang Namtha provinces in Laos. The transmission line spans 177.5 kilometers, including 145 km in China and 32.5 km in Laos.
A 500 kV substation has been newly built in Laos, along with two 230 kV transmission lines linking the country's northern backbone grid, to support the development of a unified national power network.
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Laos diplomatic relations and the Year of China-Laos Friendship.
