Hainan has implemented a visa-free entry policy for citizens of 86 countries, covering tourism, business and sports competitions. He said the policy makes it easy to host cross-border sports exchange events, providing favorable conditions for the games.

On Wednesday, the registration day, the international students took part in a charity swimming race. Sponsors pledged to donate money for a project that supports the post-surgical treatment and rehabilitation of children with congenital heart disease in Hainan.

They also experienced intangible cultural heritage workshops and Chinese teachers offered introductory Chinese courses. A student orchestra also presented performances of traditional Chinese music.

"We made lacquered fans and zodiac rubbings, and I can even take these works home. They allow me to feel the charm of Chinese culture," said Noelle, a student from Austria, who is pursuing her studies in Tbilisi, Georgia.

"I also have a small wish for this trip to Haikou, to feel the warmth of the tropical sun on the beach. Since we live in Tbilisi, where the weather is quite cold, I'm looking forward to experiencing this different climate and scenery."
