The 2025 Shanghai Esports Masters officially kicked off at Jing'an Sports Center on Dec 4.

Nearly 100 elite players from China, South Korea, Mongolia, and other countries are competing in four games, namely, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Valorant, Overwatch, and Identity V.

As a newly selected program for the 2026 Asian Games, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has been introduced this year to this tournament, elevating both the professionalism and the viewing experience of the event, which is also live-streamed in commercial districts across the city.

Representatives from esports organizations in the United States and South Korea believe that the rapid growth of this Shanghai-based event proves the city's potential to lead and set the standard for global esports events.

Since Jing'an district announced its plan to become the core esports area of Shanghai in 2019, policy support has led to the introduction of more than 30 new gaming and esports companies. Today, over 100 enterprises have gathered, creating a full industry chain that encompasses research, development, operations, and events.

Looking ahead, Jing'an district intends to build a diverse esports industry cluster centered on Lingshi Road. By utilizing relevant buildings, parks, and venues, the district will promote innovation and inject new energy into Shanghai's efforts to become a global esports hub.
