Modern projects plant new seeds of rural vitalization
Guangrao county of Dongying, Shandong province, has been integrating resources in urban and rural areas to develop modern and efficient agricultural projects focusing on horticulture, fruits and vegetables to promote rural vitalization.
At Aofu Modern Apple Production Base at the county's Dawang town, an internationally advanced cultivation model equipped with facilities such as intelligent water and fertilizer integrated system is used to produce top-notch apple. This year's apple yield is expected to be around 1,500 metric tons, generating sales revenue of at least 10 million yuan ($1.4 million), according to the town government.
The town's high-end integrated vegetable planting and seedling demonstration park features state-of-the-art comprehensive Internet of Things smart agriculture application platform.
It offers intelligent remote services for 4,600 vegetable greenhouses, increasing the output of the greenhouses thanks to efficient management.
The agricultural projects have also provided jobs to villagers. Li Meiqian, a farmer working on managing seedlings in a greenhouse at the town said she can earn around 4,000 yuan each month.
Chen Yinpeng, the Party secretary of Dawang, said over 20 agricultural projects have been built in the town. These projects have formed a complete industrial chain that covers seedling cultivation, planting, processing and marketing.
