Anti-drugs chiefs meet in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES - Chiefs from anti-drug agencies in 41 nations met here on
Monday to discuss cooperation in fighting drug-trafficking.
Argentine Vice President Daniel Scioli opened the 16th meeting of the
regional Heads Of National drug Law Enforcement Agencies (Honlea) along with
Interior Minister Anibal Fernandez and the head of the state's Anti-Drug
Addiction and Anti-Trafficking Program, Jose Granero.
Latin American and Caribbean nations, as well as Holland, Ireland, Israel,
Spain and Britain sent representatives to the event.
Honlea is a subsidiary organization of the United Nations Office for Narcotic
Drugs.
Topics up for discussion include regional responses to the production and
trafficking of cocaine, the increasing use of amphetamines and sea-borne illicit
drug trafficking.
