Drum performances helped launch Shanxi Folk Art Week at World Expo May 19.
The week will promote the northern province's culture and feature more than 70 performances by 1,200 people, including drum performances, exhibitions of making ink stones, paper cutting, ceramic pattern-making, float parade, a Peking opera, a stage play, a musical, Shanxi traditional operas, singing, dancing and Chinese rap.
The province will showcase its traditions as well as innovations and modernity.
