A desalination plant will be built in Kiaochow Bay, according to the Shandong Science Meeting.

The plant will focus on desalination to make sea water drinkable and the manufacture of desalination equipment. Desalinated sea water will enter the market starting next year.

According to the Qingdao Blue Marine Economic Office, 250 thousand tons of sea water will be desalinated by 2015 in Kiaochow Bay.
