There are many Fuxi cultural remains in Tianshui city, such as the Dadiwan site from the Neolithic Era, which is estimated to be between 4,800 and 8,300 years old; Fuxi Temple, the best-preserved complex in China, which was built during the Chenghua period (1465-1487) of the Ming Dynasty for the worship of Fuxi; Guatai Mountain, where Fuxi created bagua or Eight Trigrams, which formed the basis of Chinese traditional philosophies like Taoism and Confucianism; Nu Wa Temple; and the “Fuxi’s hometown” brick carving and memorial archway.

Since 1988, the China Tianshui Fuxi Cultural Tourism Festival has been held 24 times, and its scale and influence are increasing. In 2005, the Gansu provincial government hosted its Fuxi memorial ceremony for the first time, further promoting the tourism festival’s popularity.

The Fuxi memorial ceremony was included within the first group of the cultural heritage protection list, making it an important cultural event of Tianshui.
