The Short Video Section of the 16th Beijing International Film Festival wrapped up in Jiyuan, Henan province, on April 23, drawing over 7,000 entries — a record high. From landscapes to local culture, short videos are becoming a powerful medium for telling China’s stories and a way to connect with global audiences. Through the creators’ lenses, Jiyuan’s heritage and scenery are reaching a wider world. More than just a film event, the festival highlights how short-form content is driving the integration of culture and tourism.
Beyond the short video section of the Beijing International Film Festival, Wulongkou in Jiyuan offers a different kind of story.
During the day on April 23, foreign bloggers explored the Wulongkou Scenic Area in Jiyuan, Henan province, and had an absolute blast surrounded by lush mountains and crystal-clear waters. During their visit to Jiyuan, they also attended the Beijing International Film Festival Short Film Section, eagerly anticipating yet another cultural feast.
"I think (more informative short videos) are the future. I am using this momentum," says foreign influencer Yegor during an interview with Unboxing China. With the BJIFF Short Video Section opening in Jiyuan on April 23, an Unboxing China video featuring Yegor was shortlisted.
