The "simplistic approach" of blaming emerging markets for the price increase of commodities should be opposed, President Hu Jintao said on June 18 at the G20 summit.

Hu urged the G20 group to "pay close attention to the negative impact of high and volatile commodity prices on world economic growth."

He also pledged to address the root causes of the problem by improving pricing mechanisms.

Hu urged fellow G20 countries to "oppose the simplistic approach of blaming growing demand brought about by the development of emerging markets for the price increases".
