Tap water supply to parts of Chengdu was turned off for hours after Songmu River, which is a source of the city's drinking water, was found polluted by garbage Friday noon.

The garbage was all fished up Saturday morning. The latest tests showed the water quality met drinking standards, a spokesman with Chengdu water resources department said.

Water supply began to resume at 11 pm Friday, according to a previous statement from the department.
