Jan-Sept GDP growth greater than 7%: NDRC

China's year-on-year GDP growth rate in the first three quarters of this year was over seven percent, said Xiong Bilin, an official with the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planning body, chinanews.com reported today.

Xiong said the government's 4-trillion-yuan ($586-billion) stimulus package helped spur China's economic recovery, and added that there should be no problem in achieving eight percent GDP growth rate this year.

Final GDP growth data will be released Thursday.
