Robber caught after he texts victim

Police in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, arrested a robber who knocked a woman on the head after he sent text messages to his victim asking if she was dead or alive.

The 24-year-old migrant worker owed a 3,000-yuan ($439) gambling debt.

Earlier this month, he went to see a room for rent and hit the landlady on her head before fleeing with her gold necklace.

The woman regained consciousness half an hour later and notified the police.

The next day Chen sent a text message to the woman to know if she was still alive and was traced.
