Chinese shares close higher on Wednesday

Chinese equities ended trading on Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 2.6 percent.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed at 3,296.62 points, up 83.41 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 13,353.21 points, up 176 points, or 1.34 percent.

Combined turnover shrank to 306.79 billion yuan ($44.92 billion) from 345.91 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
