6 major securities firms post over 1b-yuan net profit

Six major Chinese securities companies all posted over one billion yuan ($147 million) net profit in the past half year, reported Shanghai Securities News Sunday.

Guotai Junan Securities so far boasted the highest retained profit of 4.65 billion yuan ($682.9 million), 63 percent of its last year's annual profit.

GF Securities, Guosen Securities, Shenyin Wanguo Securities, Huatai Securities and China Merchants Securities, reported net profits of 1.82 billion, 1.25 billion, 1.13 billion, 1.12 billion and 1.07 billion respectively.

Despite the overall picture of profit-earning, most companies lost money in their self-operation business.
