Huaneng profit climbs

Huaneng Power International Inc, China's largest listed power producer, posted a net profit increase of 16.5 percent in 2006.

Huaneng Power's 2006 net profit stood at 6.89 billion yuan compared with 5.55 billion yuan a year earlier.

Total revenue increased 10.1 percent to 44.31 billion yuan as power generation increased 6.24 percent year-on-year to 159.91 billion kilowatt hours.

The company had assets worth 108.49 billion yuan at the end of 2006, up from 94.95 billion yuan a year earlier.
