China and Bangladesh plan to deepen friendly ties and practical trade cooperation at the 10th China-South Asia Expo (CSAE) in Kunming, Yunnan province, with Bangladesh serving as the expo's theme country. The two nations marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in October 2025.

Highlighting Bangladesh's excellent bilateral relations with China, Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Md Nazmul Islam said a high-level delegation of ministers, business leaders and cultural figures would be present at the Kunming event to boost all-round cooperation.

Chinese electronics, building materials, tea and souvenirs are among popular imports in Bangladesh, while Bangladesh exports to China comprise ready-made garments, aquatic and agricultural products.

Set to take place from June 11 to 16 in Kunming, the CSAE is a key China-South Asia trade platform, with trade volume between the two sides topping about $200 billion last year, up 10.7 percent year-on-year.
