Taipingling nuclear plant begins construction of 4th Hualong One unit
The first nuclear power project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to adopt Hualong One, China's domestically developed third-generation nuclear technology, commenced main construction on its Unit 4 on Sunday, marking a significant step forward in the region's transition to clean energy.
Upon completion, the project is expected to generate over 9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, meeting the power demands of approximately 1 million people, it said.
New innovative techniques, including optimized construction organizations for core facilities, are being applied for the first time across China General Nuclear Power Corp projects, providing replicable experience for the future batch construction of Hualong One reactors, it said.
The Taipingling plant plans to build a total of six Hualong One units in three phases, with four units approved so far.
