Birdwatching enthusiasts work with local authorities in Qinhuangdao
The city's birdwatching association, founded 20 years ago, runs regular coastal wetland patrols and waterbird surveys. It has documented nearly 400 bird species, including six new local records, according to its officials.
"We have shifted from fixed observation points to mobile survey teams and from paper records to digital collection via mini-programs," Liu Xuezhong, the association's secretary general, said.
Local authorities have built an integrated protection system covering monitoring, rescue, disease control, and public education.
"We use drone patrols and smart monitoring systems, and we are deepening cross-regional cooperation to improve wetland quality for the benefit of all," Li Liang, an official with the city's forestry bureau, said.
