Since its inception in 2013, Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) has harnessed the region's abundant nickel reserves to grow into a large integrated industrial cluster. By the end of 2025, total investment in the IMIP had reached about $41.48 billion. Generating nearly 100,000 direct jobs, it has bolstered its green transformation.

At the Global CSR & ESG Summit and Awards 2026, Thailand, on April 23, the IMIP won four honors — the Best Environmental Excellence Award, Best Community Programme Award, Excellence In Provision Of Literacy & Education Award, and Best In Indonesia.

"These honors are more like external feedback at this stage, rather than a final achievement," Jeffrey Kamajaya, deputy secretary of YIP (Yayasan IMIP Peduli), said.

With a planned land area of some 4,000 hectares and having attracted over 50 enterprises, the IMIP has coordinated efforts to advance industrial development, green transformation, environmental governance, community development, and public welfare investment — continuously enhancing its green, standardized, and internationalized development.

He said the foundation will translate this recognition into more concrete and sustainable actions, continue to make efforts in education, healthcare, ecology, and community development, and further integrate related work into the IMIP's ESG (environmental, social, and governance) operation system and local development practices.

Currently, the global transition toward green and low-carbon development is accelerating, with sustainable development becoming an important measure of the overall competitiveness and development quality of major industrial projects.

Leveraging Indonesia's resource endowment, the IMIP has advanced green, circular, and coordinated development in the process of extending its industrial chain, forming industrial clusters covering stainless steel, carbon steel, and battery materials.
