Record April rains flood Qinzhou, rescue team evacuates 200 residents

The Qinzhou detachment of the People's Armed Police Force quickly deployed 37 officers and soldiers to the hardest-hit areas for rescue operations. Within three hours, rescuers safely evacuated more than 200 trapped residents.
The rainfall continues, and rescue operations remain underway.
Qinzhou recorded 271.1 millimeters of rain between 8 am on Sunday and 8 am on Monday, according to China Weather Network.
The downpour set local records for the earliest occurrence of such heavy rainfall and the highest single-day precipitation in April. It also marked the first severe rainstorm recorded this year among China's 2,418 national meteorological observation stations, it added.
