Jinan base empowers BYD's record-breaking flash-charging battery
BYD Company introduced its second-generation Blade Battery on March 5, with ultra-fast charging that reaches 97 percent in just nine minutes, setting a new standard for mass-produced electric vehicle batteries.
The new battery uses lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) material, providing electric vehicles with a driving range of 1,000 kilometers while maintaining the Blade Battery's signature safety standards. The upgraded system also enhances performance in extremely cold conditions.
Jinan plays a significant role in supporting this technological advancement. The Findreams Battery project in the Jinan Innovation Zone, operated by BYD, serves as a base for the research, development, and manufacturing of the batteries. The facility has been involved in process optimization and the large-scale production of the second-generation Blade Battery.
With advanced automated production lines, the Jinan base has facilitated the transition of the technology from lab development to mass production. With an annual production capacity of 30 gigawatt hours, the facility has become a strategic part of BYD's power battery network.
The project also supports Jinan's new energy vehicle industry by supplying batteries directly to BYD's local vehicle plant, improving industry integration, and still reducing logistics costs.
