Measures to prevent damage to rails
Chinese railway operators have taken steps to prevent and mitigate damage to rails from winter frost. Addressing potential changes in track geometry dimensions caused by low temperatures, the Taiyuan High-speed Railway Engineering Section in Shanxi province has analyzed historical data to summarize patterns of frost damage, and implemented tailored prevention measures on vulnerable locations. Enforcing a mechanism of "inspection, analysis, and same-day treatment," its staff members improved their emergency response plan, and bolstered collaboration with meteorological departments. So far, it has rectified 297 instances of damage due to frost, providing a solid guarantee for the safe operation of high-speed railways in winter.
