Wuxi in Jiangsu province is gearing up for the upcoming Chinese New Year of the Horse with an array of cultural activities.
From now until the Lantern Festival on March 3, the city will host over 1,100 diverse events, including performances, cultural exhibitions, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and themed reading activities, offering citizens and tourists a festive season full of cultural delights.
Major venues across the city, such as the Wuxi Grand Theatre, Jiangyin Concert Hall, and Yixing Poly Theatre, will showcase both Chinese and international classics.
Highlights include Nikolay Gogol's classic comedy The Government Inspector, the Spanish dance drama The Phantom of the Opera, and Cao Yu's renowned play Thunderstorm.

The Wuxi Sports Center Gymnasium will become a trendy cultural hub, featuring performances like A-Lin's concert and virtual idol Luo Tianyi's holographic concert, adding a youthful energy to the traditional festival.
Public venues, including the Wuxi Museum, Wuxi Art Museum, and various municipal and district-level museums, art galleries, and libraries, along with over 40 private cultural venues, will collectively offer more than 120 themed cultural exhibitions.
These will cover the whole gamut from historical artifacts and calligraphy to modern design, providing citizens with enriching places to explore, learn, and unwind.
During the Spring Festival, Wuxi will also present "gift packages" in the form of consumption vouchers, scenic spot tickets, and car purchase subsidies.
Furthermore, leveraging the unique cultural and tourism resources of each area, a series of lively festive activities will be launched, including lantern shows, celebrating the Chinese New Year at Qianshu Loong Kiln, and vibrant Spring Festival markets.
