Over the past year, there has been no shortage of Taiwan-related headlines: the "pro-independence" Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te and his followers continue to make provocative moves, testing the mainland's red line. The United States' arms sales to Taiwan and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent statement that a "Taiwan contingency" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan have all been adding fuel to the fire. Will the cross-Strait situation actually become more dangerous in 2026? In this video, together with international affairs commentator Du Ping, we look at three things: who faces more danger, who is stoking the fire, and how the risk can be contained.
