DPP's separatist stance, collusion with external forces root of cross-Strait tensions
The Democratic Progressive Party authorities' insistence on maintaining a "Taiwan independence" separatist stance and their collusion with external forces are the root cause of tensions in the Taiwan Strait, a Chinese mainland spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
In response to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks regarding Taiwan, Lai Ching-te falsely claimed that the mainland is carrying out a "composite attack" on Japan and argued that the mainland should not become a "troublemaker" for regional peace and stability.
Reacting to Lai's statements, Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, noted that the Lai authorities' reckless adventurism and repeated provocations aimed at seeking "independence" have drawn criticism from many foreign media outlets and scholars, who have labeled them the "destroyer of peace" and a "troublemaker" across the Strait.
Zhu warned the DPP authorities that attempting to seek "independence" by relying on external forces is a futile and delusional endeavor. "Any acts of collusion with external forces to pursue 'independence' will be met with a resolute counterstrike," she said.
Regarding Lai's actions, Zhu added: "Those who forget their roots and betray the nation will be condemned to the pillar of historical shame."
