China, Kenya broadcasters launch a music talent show
In an effort to strengthen cultural ties between China and Kenya, Hunan Broadcasting System in partnership with Kenya's Royal Media Services unveiled on Tuesday a new music talent show.
Dubbed "Sing For Africa", the show aims to promote cultural exchange between China and Kenya through music and artistic collaboration.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Yang Yun, deputy general manager and vice-president of Hunan Broadcasting system, said auditions will be held over the next three months, after which the competition will officially begin.
"The program will provide a stage for musically talented youth to realize their dreams," he said, adding that winners will have an opportunity to travel to China and showcase their talents on premier stages.
Zhang Zhizhong, minister counsellor at the Chinese embassy in Kenya, said the program will help discover, nurture and promote young Kenyan talents - transforming their potential into reality, their creativity into opportunity, and their passion into sustainable creative careers.
He noted that the collaboration between broadcasters represents a merging of expertise, technology, and vision.
"Hunan Broadcasting System, one of China's most influential media groups, brings decades of creative production experience, while Royal Media Service contributes its accumulated experience in Kenyan market and wide coverage of audiences," Zhang said.
He expressed hope that the program would stand as a shining symbol of China-Kenya win-win cooperation in the creative economy, generating more cooperation opportunities and broadening areas of partnership.
