Natl fire safety month promotes public safety awareness, risk prevention
China's National Fire Safety Month 2025 was launched on Tuesday, aiming to enhance public fire safety awareness and strengthen risk prevention measures nationwide.
The initiative was jointly launched by the Office of the State Council Work Safety Committee, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the National Fire and Rescue Administration.
Minister of Emergency Management Wang Xiangxi stressed the need to focus on safety issues such as fire-involved work on construction sites, residential fire use, electrical fire safety, and the charging and parking of electric bicycles.
He called for the extensive promotion of fire safety knowledge and regular hands-on practical training in basic firefighting skills for frontline personnel.
Wang said mechanisms, such as open and unannounced inspections and media exposure, should be well-utilized to expose major fire safety hazards and illegal acts. Channels for internal reporting by employees and public supervision should also be reinforced, he added.
The top emergency response official said lessons must be drawn from recent fires at nursing homes, small restaurants and schools.
He also encouraged special rectification campaigns targeting electric bicycles, fire-involved work in crowded places, building insulation materials, and fire exits and routes.
