A trial train departed from Yichang North Railway Station on Tuesday, marking the start of operational tests on the Wuhan–Yichang section of the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu high-speed railway, paving the way for its upcoming opening.
The 313-kilometer line, within Central China's Hubei province, runs from Wuhan through Tianmen and Jingmen to Yichang. With bridges and tunnels accounting for 85 percent of its length, the route is designed for a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
