Former China Eastern Airlines chairman under investigation

Liu Shaoyong, former Party secretary and chairman of China Eastern Airlines Co Ltd, is currently under investigation for suspension of serious violations of discipline and law, China's top anti-graft watchdog announced Saturday.
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission made the announcement in a statement on their official website, without giving further details.
According to publicly available information, Liu, born in November 1958 in Henan province, joined the Communist Party of China in 1977 and began his career in the civil aviation industry in 1978.
He has held several key positions, including deputy director of the Shanxi bureau of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, general manager of the Shanxi branch of China Eastern Airlines, and director of the flight standards department at the CAAC.
Liu was appointed chairman and Party secretary of China Eastern Airlines Co Ltd in December 2017.
