Shanghai hospital hosts blood donation event to commemorate International Doctors' Day
To commemorate International Doctors' Day, which fell on Saturday this year, Jiahui Health joined hands with the Xuhui District Blood Management Office, Hongmei subdistrict and Shanghai Shenhua Football Club to hold a blood donation event at Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital on Friday.
Altogether, 158 individuals participated, donating blood amounting to 36,400 milliliters.
Providing medical care at an international standard, Jiahui International Hospital serves over 500,000 patients from home and abroad annually. Up to 37 percent of inpatients require blood transfusions at peak times. That has motivated it to host blood donation activities for six consecutive years.
Li Jun, chairman of the surgery department at Shanghai Jiahui International Hospital, was one of the first donors on the day. It was his third time to donate blood.
"Each surgical operation we perform relies on blood supplies, and our participation in blood donation reinforces our commitment to patient care. I feel honored to play my part," Li said.
Shanghai Shenhua Football Club, a strategic partner of Jiahui Health, provided strong support to the blood donation initiative, convening nearly 100 soccer fans to join in the blood donation.
Earlier this year, Jiahui Health became the official medical partner of Shanghai Shenhua Football Club, providing comprehensive medical services, including health management, sports injury prevention, and emergency care for all the players, coaches and staff.
