COP14 concludes with framework adoption
The 2025-2030 Global Strategic Framework for Wetlands Conservation was adopted during the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, which completed its agenda and closed on Sunday.
COP14 ran from Nov 5 to 13, in Wuhan, Hubei province, and Geneva, Switzerland.
The framework focuses on the role of wetland protection and restoration in promoting sustainable development and addressing global environmental challenges and technical and scientific cooperation and exchanges.
In addition, 21 resolutions were adopted at the meeting.
Among them, three resolutions were proposed by China, including setting up an international mangrove center in Shenzhen, Guangdong province.
China welcomes all interested parties, nongovernmental organizations and countries to voluntarily participate in the establishment and operation of the center.
It was also decided that Zimbabwe would host the 15th meeting.
