An exhibition of China's conservation achievements began on Sunday in Wuhan, Hubei province, to mark the 30th anniversary of the country's accession to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands.

As part of the activities at the ongoing 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, which will run from Nov 5 to 13, the exhibition includes pictures, videos and interactive stations to educate visitors about China's efforts to protect its wetlands.

The exhibition center, which used to be a wastewater plant in Wuhan's East Lake area, comprises three halls and covers 860 square meters.

Wang Guanghua, minister of natural resources, said that China will promote wetlands protection in a scientific, law-based manner and in a way that meets international standards. The nation will become a firm supporter and active promoter of global wetlands protection and make greater contributions to building a harmonious coexistence between man and nature, Wang added.

Guan Zhiou, head of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, presided over the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
