Shanghai reports four new cases


Shanghai reported four new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 15 asymptomatic cases on Wednesday.
According to the municipal health authority, one locally transmitted case from Pudong New Area, age 8, tested positive when she went to a hospital after showing a fever.
The 281 Changdao Road Hudong Xincun sub-district in Pudong New Area, where the patient studied, was subsequently categorized as a medium-risk area for the virus' spread.
The other cases were close contacts of the confirmed cases announced in recent days, and tested positive during their quarantine.
As of 5 pm Wednesday, 3,268 close contacts and 6,394 secondary close contacts of the new cases had been identified and put under quarantine. Among them, 9,462 nucleic acid test results were negative so far. Tests are still ongoing.
According to Yang Zhenfeng, deputy director of the Municipal Education Commission, students put into quarantine are able to take online classes through a municipal online learning platform with over 11,300 video courses. The commission will continue upgrading teaching resources, Yang said at a briefing of the local pandemic situation held on Wednesday.
