When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Hubei province earlier this year, more than 42,000 medical workers from other parts of the country went there to join the fight against the disease.

A consequence was that many health workers had to postpone their weddings.

Cui Wei, 29, is a nurse at the China-Japan Friendship Hospital in Beijing. She went to Wuhan, capital of Hubei, on Feb 4.

She had planned to marry fiance Yao Ningxin in early March. However, she had to delay the wedding as she worked at two makeshift hospitals in Wuhan and in the isolation ward of Tongji Hospital's Zhongfaxincheng branch.

After working in Wuhan for 64 days, Cui returned to Beijing and was reunited with her fiance. However, their wedding had to be postponed again because of an outbreak in Beijing.

In June, they decided to join a group wedding held in Bo'ao, Hainan province. Cui said she appreciated Yao's patience and his support for her work."Joining the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic was a test not only for my career, but also for my marriage. I'm happy to pass the test," she said.
