Grand exhibition illustrates Confucian culture

High Mountains, Broad Paths, a large-scale exhibition elaborating on the formation and evolution of Confucianism and its extensive influence at home and abroad, is being held at the National Museum of China.

Confucius (551-479 BC), the paramount educator, philosopher and statesman in ancient China, founded a school of thought, known as Confucianism, which remains deeply influential on later generations and even on people today. He was the first to set up private schools in China that enrolled students from different social classes.

Running until March 27, the exhibition features more than 700 artifacts, historic texts and works of art, mainly from the collections of the national museum; Confucius Museum in Qufu, East China's Shandong province, the birthplace of the great philosopher; Shandong Museum; the Palace Museum and Gansu Museum.
