Liu Jiayu takes Copper halfpipe silver
WASHINGTON - Liu Jiayu, Pyeongchang Winter Olympics silver medalist, finished second at US Grand Prix halfpipe World Cup in Copper Mountain, standing on the podium for the first time this season.
Queralt Castelle from Spain claimed the victory with a score of 87.75 points. Liu Jiayu ranked second with 80.00. Maddie Mastro of the United States took the third place on 77.50. The other two Chinese riders Wu Shaotong and Cai Xuetong locked down fifth and sixth place respectively.
For the men's race, no Chinese athletes entered the final. Australian Scotty James continued his strong momentum after winning every competition he entered last season by taking the win with a score of 96.00. Japanese riders Yuto Totsuka and Ruka Hirano finished second and third respectively.
