Guangzhou Evergrande end winning streak, Guoan back to second place
BEIJING - Beijing Guoan went back to the 2nd place in the league standings after beating Dalian Yifang 2-0 while league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande ended their winning streak as they were forced to a 1-1 draw by Chongqing Siwei on Thursday.
In the other Thursday matches of the rescheduled 22nd round of CSL, Shandong Luneng were beaten by Wuhan Zall 2-1, Tianjin Tianhai tied with Shanghai Shenhua 2-2.
Beijing Guoan dominated the match against Dalian Yifang from the beginning, but didn't break the deadlock until the second half. Ba Dun's close-range shot and Zhang Yuning's powerful strike helped Beijing Guoan seal the victory at 2-0. With the win, Beijing Guoan overtook Shanghai SIPG to retain the second place in the league table.
Guangzhou Evergrande failed to extend their winning streak to a record of 14 matches. Though Anderson Talisca opened the scoring with a free kick for the host, Chongqing Siwei almost immediately levelled the score at 1-1 two minutes later through Feng Jin. The scoreline was kept unchanged till the end of the match.
Wuhan Zall conceded a goal in the 18th minute due to a blunder from their goalkeeper. However, the home team scored twice in five minutes through Ming Tian and Liu Yun to take a 2-1 lead and prevailed to win the match.
