Father hunts for son's killer over 17 years

In September 2017, Fuqing police found a man in Daoxian county, Henan province, who had a highly similar appearance to He Lei, the suspect who committed the homicide 17 years ago, through an image comparison system. The man was arrested and admitted that he is He Lei.
He said after he killed Lin Peng in 2001, he fled Fuqing and went to Guanghzou. To escape the hunt, he then fled to Daoxian county where he bought a fake ID under the name "Zhu Junyang".
He married there and had three children. He then went to Shenzhen in Guangdong province and opened a computer repair shop until he was arrested. During the period, he never told his wife about the murder case.
Two weeks after He Lei was captured, his father He Song gave himself up to the police and he was detained on the charges of harboring a criminal.
In June, the Fuzhou Procuratorate initiated a public prosecution against He Lei on the charge on intentional injury.
Wang Guohua is finally relieved that the criminal was brought to justice, but he is sad that his son cannot come back to life.
