Dog thief sentenced to death for killing pregnant woman

A court in Longyan, Fujian province, sentenced a dog thief to death with a two-year reprieve for accidentally killing a pregnant woman, Chinanews reported on Friday.
In December 2015, a dog thief, identified only as Qiu, accidentally shot a woman, surnamed Li, in the leg with a poisoned dart as she was walking home.
Li, who was seven months pregnant, died that day from respiratory and circulatory failure caused by the toxic substance in the dart, according to Fujian police.
Qiu’s partner, surnamed Ma, and the dart seller, surnamed Fu, were prosecuted in separate actions.
