Symposium to promote Beijing-Hong Kong cooperation
The 21st Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium will be held in Hong Kong from Nov 28 to 29 under the theme of "Leading Innovation, Exchange Resources, Open Development, and Create Prosperity".
According to the Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau, 15 activities will be organized for the event, including on investment and trade cooperation, environmental protection, technology, culture, and youth entrepreneurship.
Xu Zhijun, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing city government, said about 2,100 Hong Kong enterprises and organizations have shown interest in participating.
By the end of September, investment from Hong Kong in Beijing had reached $59.13 billion, accounting for 44.9 percent of the capital's utilized foreign direct investment, according to the Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau.
In the first nine months this year, Hong Kong established 380 companies in Beijing, with $9.83 billion invested.
Over the same period, Beijing's direct investment in Hong Kong reached $26.34 billion, accounting for 44.3 percent of the capital's foreign direct investment.
