Li Daokui, monetary adviser for China's central bank, commenting on the fact that innovation is still a scarcity in many parts of China, where the economy remains largely investment-driven.

"It shows that Apple has started to strengthen its advantages and market competitiveness by using legal weapons in China since they anticipate more copycat designs in future."

Wang Xiumo, director of the Enterprise Institute in Chongqing Academy of Social Sciences, saying that Apple, one of the most pirated brands in China, now has more local protection after being granted 40 design patents by China's Patent Office.
