The Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) has decided to send 180 of 18 different sports to the Asian Games 2006 to be held in Doha, Qatar, from Dec. 1 to 15 this year, according to a DPRK sports official on Wednesday.
"There are about 180 athletes in the delegation of 250 members to the Asian Games 2006," said Yun Yong-bok, the deputy director of technical bureau of DPRK Sports Instruction Association.
"Our target is to make better performance than last Asian Games," Yun told Xinhua, adding that "we will go for more than 10 gold medals and 50 medals in 18 sports."
DPRK won nine gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals with ninth position in all 40 participant countries and regions in last Asian Games held in South Korea.
